Our Story - Why this name?

The two Twins of Faith are knowledge and action. The concept of Twins of Faith has an underlying intent to get people active & to seek knowledge. Our goal is to educate and mobilize all people towards positive social activism. The combination of knowledge and action is what separates this ummah from the previous ones; we find mention in the Quran of those nations who had knowledge but did not act upon it and those that acted without knowledge.

Inspiring through knowledge, through awareness of the prophet’s vision, through conversation and engagement.

The type of inspiration will be positive. It will only lead to good things, positive things, positive for everyone – Muslim or non-Muslim.

Change is a progression since positives precede it. We aim for change and progression in the areas of knowledge, awareness, activism, piety, etc.

The Twins of Faith Logo

The intertwined symbols of knowledge and action In our logo, the two arabic words for knowledge and action–’ilm and ‘amal –come together and intertwine. In the arabic language, similarity in letters shows the relationship between different words.

These two words, in arabic, are comprised of the same three letters ayn, laam and meem just with a slight change in order from one to the other. ‘ilm–knowledge– is spelt ’ayn , laam , meem and ‘amal–action–is spelt ‘ayn, meem, laam. Our logo, therefore, is the symbolic representation of our purpose: bringing together knowledge and action to create positive change.

Our Themes
Best of Nations
[Quran 3:110]
You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah.

The Quran describes the Muslim community to be the best collection of people brought forth from the annals of history. This, however, is conditional upon the implementation of 3 specific aspects:

Enjoining that which is good
Forbidding that which is wicked
Believing in God

Through many hadiths the Prophet (peace be upon him) has further clarified the multifaceted approach to achieve excellence.

During this conference we will explore the concept of excellence in Islam and strategies for inculcating it into our lives.

In Pursuit of His Pleasure
Abu Sa'eed al-Khudree (ra) relates that the Prophet said:
"Allah, the Lord of Honour and Glory, will call the inmates of Paradise, 'O Residents of Paradise!'They will respond, 'Here we are, our Lord, and all good is in Your Hands. ‘He will ask them: 'Are you now pleased?' They will answer: 'Why should we not be pleased, our Lord? When You have bestowed upon us such bounties which You have not bestowed on any of Your other creation. ‘He will then say to them: 'Shall I not bestow upon you something even better than that?' The inhabitants of Paradise will inquire: 'What could be better than that?' Allah will say, 'I bestow upon you My Pleasure and shall never thereafter be displeased with you.’"

Human beings by their very nature are seekers. We, as humans, seek employment, friends, and indeed our very purpose in life. Above all we seek what was identified by the American founding fathers: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Everything that humans seek in fact serves a greater good: to achieve happiness. Everything else is considered a mean to that ultimate end. Questions then arise: What is happiness? What are its signs? How can we achieve it? How is the concept of happiness related to God? This conference will explore the critical issue of happiness and shed light about its different aspects.

[Quran 9:72]

"But the greatest bliss is the good Pleasure of Allah: that is the supreme success.”

Family Matters
The family is the cornerstone of this Ummah

By nurturing our families to be visionary, pious, confident, self-sufficient and selfless we are all able to contribute to uplifting the situation of this nation. Put simply, the Family Matters because it is the foundation through which success in this life and the next is built.

Marriage! What does it mean?
How do you select a spouse? What are the rights and responsibilities of each spouse? What are the keys to a successful marriage in Islam?

Children! How do we raise them? What vision should we have for them? How can we teach them to be proud of their Muslim identity and be ambassadors of Islam? How can we as parents become the best of role models? Knowledge! What is its link and importance to the family? Why seek it? What should we be seeking? How do we incorporate it into our day-to-day lives?

By the end of the conference it is our intention that every individual will come way inspired, spiritually re-energized, and armed with essential knowledge and practical tools to make positive changes within their families and lives.

For the Love of God
Love for the Final Messenger
Love for your Parents, Spouse, Children
Love for your fellow Muslims (Ummah), Neighbour
Love for Yourself

The scholars and speakers will seek to address the above and how they must manifest within us if we seek to love Allah and seeking His love in return.

[Quran 2:165]

"And [yet], among the people are those who take other than Allah as equals [to Him]. They love them as they [should] love Allah."

[Quran 3:31]

"Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah, and then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."

Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: “None of you truly believes until I am more beloved to him than his father, his children and all of mankind.” (Bukhari)
The Legacy of the Prophets
The Prophets in Islam were those chosen few of mankind who were selected and assigned the mission by God to guide people back to the way of truth and righteousness. Selected parts of their lives are recorded in varying levels of detail as a lesson for us all till the end of time.

In this conference we will look at some of the inspiring lessons in the lives of these great individuals. The ups and downs, the highs and lows, their friends and foes, how they overcame their challenges, and their bond of faith that unites them all. As the final messenger once said ‘The Prophets are brethren from one father (Adam) and from different mothers, but their religion is one.

The Sunnah the Better
What is the Sunnah?
Why is it important?
How is it to be understood in practice? What is the benefit of following it?

This conference is about understanding and appreciating the importance and holistic nature of the Sunnah in order to change our lives. Each lecture will explain a different aspect of life based on the Sunnah in order for us to draw closer to our Lord.
